Why Don't People Get Interaction on Google+? (Why Google+ - Part 4)

We've all heard the complaint that Google+ is a 'ghost town.' Probably part of what fuels that belief is that when many plussers post they don't get any interaction - no +1s, comments or shares. Why?

In Part 2 of this Why Google+ series I asked, Why Do People Stop Using Google+? (http://goo.gl/X3HB0). +Philo Yan commented: "One of the reasons people leave G+ is because....people find that no one seems to respond to their pages. No plusses or comments or interactions." If this is a reason people leave Google+, and it probably is, how come this happens?

We've all had to overcome the silence when we began using Google+. It took me months to begin to get interaction on my posts, but all the while I stayed consistent at interacting with others on their posts. So how have you gotten interaction on your posts?
