*Backup your stuff & check the backups!!*

I'm away from home and my office attending Book Expo America and BlogWorld & New Media Expo for five days. So it would figure that because I can't get to my regular computer that disaster strikes.

One of our company's web servers irreversibly failed taking all our sites with it. The backup was partially corrupt but everything was recovered quickly (Dave Young completely rocks!!). All except for MY sites.

Including Women of Google+.

Yes, I cried.

I will have to recreate all my sites manually and link together all the data. One of my sites has been up since 2005. (Another since 1997 but that was taken offline a few years back.)

Since I am out speaking at these conferences, tons of people are hitting the sites looking for info about me, and it is all GONE. Thankfully my husband was able to put up splash screens and flags to the search engines that my sites aren't gone so I don't loose any Google Search ranking.

To say I'm stressed out over it is an understatement. I'm here to say backups aren't enough, you need to make sure you can actually use them!
