13 Utterly Disappointing Facts About Books

Every single fact on this list is sad and heartbreaking.

First of all, my kids LOVE LOVE LOVE to read (well the 5 year old likes being read *to*). So while that fact scares me for other people's kids, I have no worries with my own.

Next, the idea that when people *do* read they choose books by Snooki, Jessica Alba, and The Biebs isn't surprising since it's fairly mainstream to prefer trashy reality television over say, any other form of great programming.

Last, ***READ A DAMN BOOK PEOPLE***. The things that separate us from the rest of the primates is our thumbs (to flip through a book - or swipe to the next page), our ability to take information and process it to knowledge (we have *imaginations*) and our ability to communicate in a highly structured and sophisticated way (reading helps this tremendously in my opinion).

My author, librarian, and book industry friends should be (rightfully) reeling right now.
